A 55-year-old island resident was shot at his home on New Year’s Day, and Penobscot Nation Police Chief Robert Bryant said Tuesday that while the case is still under investigation, he believes it was an accident.
“What we are leaning to is an accidental discharge of a firearm,” the police chief said.
The man, who was not identified, suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen, Bryant said.
