Welcome to the home of Maine Citizens Against Handgun Violence.  Founded in 1999, MCAHV is actually two organizations - Maine Citizens Against Handgun Violence (501c4) whose mission includes legislative and lobbying work, and Maine Citizens Against Handgun Violence Foundation (501c3) whose primary mission includes education through programs like our Gun Lock Giveaway which has distributed over 23,000 locks to Maine families.

URGENT & CRITICAL REQUEST

Contact your State House & Senate Legislators
and ask them to support LD 1737,
An Act To Clarify Safety Requirements in Acadia National Park

Referred out of the Criminal Justice Committee with a split (6-6) vote on 02/12/10, this bill will continue to keep guns out of Acadia National Park as it has been since the Reagan Administration. It keeps continuity within the State - State Parks follow the same rules. It has no effect on hunters because there is no hunting allowed in Acadia. Don't allow the extremist sects of the NRA and SAM to convince legislators that citizens should be allowed to protect themselves with guns in our National Park.

Closing the Gun Show Loophole
This video shows how easy it is for criminals to obtain guns without having to undergo a background check.  In Maine, it is as easy as picking up an Uncle Henry's.
